No leakage has been reported in a seven-car train derailment in Manatee County. Emergency crews were dispatched Tuesday to the scene at the 7200 block of 16th Street East near Tallevast Road, just east of the Sarasota-Manatee International Airport.

Two of the seven rail cars are propane tankers.

Emergency crews from Southern Manatee Fire & Rescue responded to the initial calls. No injuries were reported. Manatee County Emergency Medical Services and Sheriff’s Office personnel were deployed to the scene in addition to Manatee County Public Safety personnel to assist with the clearing of the tracks.

Before the tracks can be cleared, the propane must be removed from the tankers.

“We are proud of our first responders,” Manatee County Commission Chair Kevin Van Ostenbridge said in a news release. “Their quick action has helped maintain the safety and security of our citizens.”

Crews will continue to monitor the underway cleanup efforts.
