Fruitville Road crash snarls Sarasota County traffic

First responders have cleared the scene, though traffic is generally slow in the vicinity and on the adjacent portion of Interstate 75.

11:55 a.m.

Sarasota County Sheriff’s deputies and Fire-Rescue personnel are working at the scene of a traffic collision Thursday at Fruitville Road and Cattlemen Road that has traffic tied up both eastbound and westbound.

First responders were called to the scene at around 11:06 a.m., according to the Sheriff’s Office 911 call log. At least three vehicles were involved.

Numerous fire trucks and rescue units were also called to the scene, though by around 11:45 a.m., several had already left the scene. Traffic is slow moving in the area of the intersection and also on the adjacent stretch of Interstate 75.
