Repair efforts for a major water pipeline, which have become more extensive than previously anticipated, are expected to be complete in February, according to a Manatee County press release on Friday.

The leak has resulted in discolored water for some area residents.

The repairs for the 42-inch transmission line, which is located just beside the Manatee County Water Treatment Plant on Waterline Road, will involve the removal of a damaged portion of the pipe and its replacement with a new length of pipe, the release said.

The release said the county will be able to isolate the area of repair without stopping the flow of water to residents.

Currently, it said, county crews are working with contractors to obtain materials and to prepare the site.
