U.S. Rep. Greg Steube spent Wednesday night in intensive care after a fall of about 25 feet from a ladder while trimming branches at his home in unincorporated Manatee County, the congressman’s office said in a series of social media posts on Thursday.
Steube is “making progress and in good spirits,’’ said a post on his official Twitter account on Thursday, which also said his injuries are “not life-threatening at this time.’’
Thank you to all who continue to pray for Congressman Steube. The Congressman was knocked approximately 25 feet down off a ladder while cutting tree limbs on his Sarasota property yesterday afternoon.

The 44-year-old Republican received several injuries in the fall.
“We are thankful to the individual who witnessed the fall and immediately called 911, as well as Sarasota County’s Emergency Services for their quick response and transportation,’’ a further post read.
U.S. Rep. Vern Buchanan tweeted his good thoughts.
“Horrible to hear about @RepGregSteube’s accident earlier today. Sandy and I are keeping him and his family in our thoughts and prayers and wishing him a very speedy recovery.’’
Since Florida’s redistricting, Steube’s 17th House District encompasses all of Sarasota and Charlotte counties and some of Lee County.
Last week, Steube was assigned to the House Ways and Means Committee.
