A 36-year-old Sarasota man has been arrested in connection with the June 14 theft of a Porsche 930 Turbo from the Sarasota Classic Car Museum at 5500 N. Tamiami Trail. Daniel Boyce is facing a felony charge of scheming to defraud over $50,000.

The 1977 model Porsche, valued at $250,000, was reported missing following a burglary alarm activation at the facility. Exterior surveillance video showed an unknown person entering the property as the alarm sounded.

An anonymous caller advised Sarasota Police Department detectives that Boyce was seen with a brown Porsche at an unknown warehouse. Detectives eventually located the stolen vehicle with a fraudulently obtained title and tag. The Manatee County Sheriff’s Office and the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office assisted in the recovery of the vehicle.

Boyce was arrested on Friday, July 21, on a Sarasota County warrant for failing to appear in court for a grand theft auto charge. He is being held without bond at the Sarasota County Jail. The investigation is ongoing and additional charges may be forthcoming.

Detectives believe there may be more victims in this case. Anyone with information is asked to call the SPD Criminal Investigations Division at 941-263-6070 or leave an anonymous tip with Crime Stoppers by calling 941-366-TIPS or online at SarasotaCrimeStoppers.com.
