Sarasota residents who want to provide input on the drafting of future zoning text amendments regarding regulations for restaurants, bars and nightclubs are invited to participate in a virtual session at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, June 8.

The text amendments are intended to address ambiguity in the city’s zoning code related to intensity, such as live sound, amplification and operating hours.

The meeting will cover challenges with the existing zoning code language, such as establishments classified as restaurants being operated as nightclubs late into the evening, and those classified as nightclubs that do not operate as them.

Regulating outdoor bars, suitable zoning districts and permitting processes are among the additional topics to be discussed.

The meeting will be held via Zoom, and registration is required to ask questions and provide feedback. The meeting will also be livestreamed on the city’s website for viewing only.

Questions and comments can be sent to [email protected].
