Motorcyclist fatally injured in Wednesday afternoon crash

A fatal crash involving a motorcycle and an SUV on Wednesday afternoon remains under investigation by the Sarasota Police Department. The crash happened at approximately 5:30 p.m. in the 1100 block of North Washington Boulevard where an adult man driving a motorcycle southbound collided with an SUV driven by an adult woman.

The investigation closed the southbound lanes of North Washington Boulevard (U.S. 301) for more than two hours.

Both individuals were transported to Sarasota Memorial Hospital where the motorcyclist later died as a result of injuries sustained in the crash.

This is the second motorcycle crash fatality in less than a week. On June 2, a motorcyclist died at Sarasota Memorial Hospital from injuries sustained during a crash at the intersection of South Tamiami Trail and Grove Street.
