Photo by Dariela DelgadoThe stars shone a little brighter for Dreamers Academy on the night of March 11. The bilingual charter school brought its first gala, “Night of Dreams” on March 11 to The Grove.
About 130 attendees gathered together in support to raise funds for the construction of their “Playground of Dreams,” an outdoor learning area that supports student learning through physical activity and cognitive training. The outdoor learning area supports project-based learning for activities that require extra space to collaborate.
“The goal is to celebrate our accomplishments and our journey as a school and fundraise for our outdoor space in the new school building,” said Head of Dreamers Academy Cathy Rodriguez. “This is all for the students and I feel so excited to have everyone here supporting the mission of our school: to have our students bilingual and biliterate by fifth grade.”
Guests bid on auction items, mingled with other community members and received an update on construction of the new educational campus, which is planned to open this August in Newtown. Afterwards, the ballroom turned into a merengue dance floor.
