Corin Mohammadbhoy is a junior on the Braden River High track and field team. Mohammadbhoy is tied for 11th in Class 3A in the high jump (4 feet, 11.75 inches) as of March 27, setting her season high mark at the IMG Spring Break Invitational on March 18 at IMG Academy. Mohammadbhoy is also a school record holder in the 4x100 meter relay (50.11), set in May 2021 alongside former Pirates Jamie Bolduc, Marissa Smith and Alexis Graham.

When did you start participating in track and field?

I started my freshman year. I was a gymnast before then, but I broke my wrist and quit gymnastics. I wanted to still do something and track was a good option because I had done some running before. I ended up loving it.

What is the appeal to you?

I just like the competition. I like to win and I like to do a little bit better each meet.

What is your favorite event?

It's the high jump. It's the event where I'm the most consistent and it is fun to improve your score by going a little higher. I make sure I practice it at least twice a week. Sometimes I'll practice with a bungee cord instead of a traditional bar so I can set it even higher (without fear of injury).

What is your favorite memory?

When I first helped the 4x100 relay team break the school record in 2021 (at the Riverview High Invitational), that was awesome. I didn't realize what we had done until 20 minutes after the race ended. I remember my coaches telling me and just feeling like, "I don't know how we did that." And then we broke that record three more times. It felt great.

What are your goals for this season?

I would definitely like to hit five feet in the high jump. By the time I graduate I want to break the school record, which is 5 feet, 4 inches (set by Emma King in 2016).

What is your favorite food?

I know every runner says this, but it's pasta. I'll eat any pasta with butter and parmesan cheese.

What is your favorite TV show?

I like "Outer Banks" and "Stranger Things" a lot.

What is your favorite school subject?

Well, it's not technically a class, but I love being involved with the Student Government Association because I do it with a lot of my friends.

Which superpower would you pick?

I want to fly. I just think it would be so unique.

What is the best advice you have received?

Treat everyone how you would want to be treated. I think kindness is lacking in the world right now and you never know what other people are going through in their lives.

Finish this sentence: "Corin Mohammadbhoy is …"

Shy, until you get to know me.
