Man arrested in Sarasota for January murder in Bradenton

Sarasota Police and U.S. Marshals apprehend 24-year-old Dorian Brooks on multiple felonies.

A man has been arrested in Sarasota on multiple felony warrants, including first-degree murder in connection with a January robbery in Bradenton. The Sarasota Police Department, in cooperation with the U.S. Marshal Service, arrested 24-year-old Dorian Brooks. 

Both agencies responded to a residence in the 5100 block of Old Bradenton Road in Sarasota on Wednesday, where Brooks was hiding at a friend’s home. He was arrested at around 10:45 p.m. after being apprehended in the attic. 

On Jan. 23, multiple suspects, including Brooks, arrived at a residence in the 100 block of 10th Ave. W. in Bradenton with intent to commit an armed robbery. During the robbery, the suspects shot more than 60 times, striking three victims. One of the victims, a 23-year-old man, died from his injuries on Jan. 31.

The incident remains under investigation.
