High school football roundup: Week 11

The FHSAA regular season comes to an end, while the SSAA plays its playoff semifinals.

East County 

Parrish Community High (7-3) won 43-6 over George Jenkins High (4-5) at home. Senior running back Jerone Turner had a 54-yard touchdown run on the game's first play from scrimmage. Turner would add an 18-yard touchdown run in the second quarter. Senior quarterback Jackson Volz threw two touchdown passes — a 17-yard pass to senior Lane Tomlinson and a three-yard pass to sophomore Kymistrii Young. Tomlinson (one yard) and junior Jermaine Edwards (15 yards) also added rushing touchdowns. 

Lakewood Ranch High (4-6) lost 42-13 to Booker High (6-4) on the road. Junior running back Cullen McRae had a 37-yard touchdown run. Sophomore quarterback Liam Fernandez had a one-yard touchdown run. 

Braden River High (5-5) lost 27-20 to Robinson High (8-2) on the road. It was the Pirates' third game in eight days after a 35-7 win over Southeast High (0-10) on Oct. 27 and a 45-28 win over Wildwood High (2-7) on Oct. 31. Junior running back Yahshua Edwards ran for 203 yards and five touchdowns against Wildwood, the longest being 15 yards. Senior defensive back Isaac Heaven had two interceptions against Wildwood. 

The Out-of-Door Academy (5-5) won 41-21 over St.Edward's High (4-6) in the Sunshine State Athletic Association Class 4A semifinals on the road. The Thunder will play Lighthouse Private Christian Academy (4-5) at 7 p.m. Nov. 10 at home for the 4A title. 


Sarasota

Cardinal Mooney High (8-2) won 51-0 over Bayshore High (4-6). Senior Johnny Antonucci had a 13-yard rushing touchdown. Sophomore quarterback Devin Mignery threw a 20-yard touchdown pass to senior Teddy Foster and ran for touchdowns of 23 yards and 21 yards. Junior defensive back Chris McCorkle returned an interception 80 yards for a touchdown. Senior safety Emerson Warthling returned a fumble one yard for a touchdown. Senior receiver Zy'marion Lang returned a punt 70 yards for a touchdown. 

Riverview High (6-4) won 54-6 over Charlotte High (4-6) at home. Senior running back DJ Johnson ran for four touchdowns and finished with 170 yards. Sophomore running back Isaiah Belt ran for touchdowns of 12 and 21 yards. Senior quarterback Jeremiah Dawson threw a 74-yard touchdown pass to senior receiver Anthony Campbell. Senior Brandon King ran for a touchdown. 

Booker High (6-4) won 42-13 over Lakewood Ranch High (4-6) at home. Junior running back Takurian Smith had a five-yard touchdown run. Senior running back Ahmad Hunter had a 10-yard touchdown run. Junior quarterback Jordan Johnson threw a five-yard touchdown pass to senior Hunter Zirkle and a 20-yard pass to senior Josiah Booker. Booker also thew a 59-yard touchdown pass to Zirkle. Senior running back Derrick Hugine ran for a 22-yard touchdown. 

Sarasota High (1-9) lost 42-13 to IMG Academy White (8-1) at home. 


With the regular season concluded, all FHSAA playoff matchups will be announced at 10 a.m. Sunday.
