Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport has picked up a new route as Avelo Airlines began service to the greater Philadelphia area’s Wilmington Airport (ILG) on Nov. 2. It is the carrier’s third nonstop destination from SRQ, operating twice weekly on Thursdays and Sundays aboard new-generation Boeing 737 aircraft.
An alternative to Philadelphia International Airport for those heading to the greater Philadelphia and Delaware Valley Region, ILG joins southern Connecticut’s Tweed-New Haven Airport (HVN) and the Research Triangle’s Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU) on Avelo to and from SRQ.
“We are pleased that Avelo Airlines is starting nonstop service between Philadelphia-Wilmington and the Sarasota-Bradenton area,” said SRQ President and CEO Rick Piccolo in a news release. “This new nonstop route will provide customers a way to avoid big city congestion and fly from one convenient airport to another.”
