Braden River High (2-0) won 41-23 against Lakewood Ranch High (0-3) at home. Braden River junior receiver/running back Yahshua Edwards had three rushing touchdowns, as well as an 88-yard receiving touchdown from junior quarterback Lucas Despot, and Pirates junior defensive back Zion Newell had a pick six. Lakewood Ranch senior Dalin Koscielski had a 95-yard kickoff return for a touchdown and Mustangs senior quarterback Sebastian Mejia threw a 25-yard touchdown to sophomore tight end Cooper Orzel. The Pirates will next play a road game against Manatee High (3-0) at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 15, while Lakewood Ranch will play IMG Academy Blue (0-2) on the road at 7 p.m. Sept. 14.
The Out-of-Door Academy (1-2) lost 21-7 to Saint Stephen's Episcopal (2-1) at home. The Thunder got its lone score off a pass from junior quarterback Jackson Roth to senior receiver Jack Meyers. ODA will have an off week before playing Faith Christian Academy (2-1) on the road at 7 p.m. Sept. 22.
Parrish Community High (2-1) won 63-22 over Bayshore High (2-1). Senior quarterback Jackson Volz threw touchdowns to sophomore Rymen Mosley and sophomore Kymistrii Young and ran for another. The Bulls will next play Avon Park High (0-2) at 7 p.m. Sept. 15 on the road.
Riverview High (2-1) won 52-42 over Palmetto High (1-1) at home. Rams senior quarterback Braxton Thomas scored four rushing touchdowns against the Tigers. Sophomore athlete Anthony Miller had seven catches for 125 yards. Running backs DJ Johnson, a junior, and Isaiah Belt, a sophomore, combined for more than 300 rushing yards and four touchdowns. The Rams next play Cardinal Mooney High (3-0) on the road at 7 p.m. Sept. 14.
Cardinal Mooney High (3-0) won 37-17 against Evangelical Christian (2-1) at home. Cougars senior quarterback Michael Valentino threw for two touchdowns, one to sophomore Bo O'Daniel and one to senior Teddy Foster, and ran for two touchdowns. Senior running back Carson Beach also added a touchdown. The Cougars will next host Riverview High (2-1) at 7 p.m. Sept. 14.
Booker High (2-1) won 33-3 over Sarasota High (0-3) on the road. Tornadoes junior quarterback Alex Diaz threw four touchdowns against his former school: two to senior Josiah Booker, one to sophomore Tyren Wortham and one to senior Josh Burrows. Sarasota got on the board with a field goal from senior kicker Andrew Clayton. The Tornadoes will next host Berkeley Prep (1-1) at 7 p.m. Sept. 14. The Sailors will next play Palmetto High (1-1) on the road at 7 p.m. Sept. 15.
