Sarasota County now under tropical storm warning

As of 5 a.m. Saturday morning, Sarasota County is under a tropical storm warning, according to an emergency update issued by Sarasota County.

Tropical storm conditions are possible within the next 36 hours.

“Sarasota County Emergency Management is continuing to monitor Tropical Depression Four,” the update states.

There are no evacuation orders issued, and no Sarasota County sandbag operations have opened. 

Area residents can sign up for emergency notifications by registering for Alert Sarasota County, The service sends alerts via phone, text and/or email, depending on user preference.
