Sarasota County will open an evacuation center for those impacted by Hurricane Debby Monday at 5 p.m. at Sarasota Technical College, 4748 S. Beneva Road in Sarasota. First responders are effecting rescues in parts of the county.

North Casey Key Road is completely closed because of floodwaters and downed trees. Phillippi Creek has covered the road south of Southgate Community Center and is flooding the general area. A storm drain and sidewalk washed out on Proctor Road near Suncoast Technical College.
Other impacts include:
- Waste Management will resume regularly scheduled collection services for residential garbage, recycling and yard waste on Tuesday, Aug. 6.
- No yard waste will be accepted at the landfill or collected curbside until further notice.
- Construction and demolition will be open at the landfill.
- The Central County Landfill will open for garbage from municipalities and Waste Management only at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 6.
- Normal operations at the Citizens' Convenience Center at the Central County Landfill will resume at 8 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 7.
- All Breeze services (Breeze bus and trolley routes, Breeze OnDemand and non-medical Breeze Plus trips) are suspended until further notice. Breeze Plus is making every effort to honor medically necessary (dialysis) trips. Visit SCgov.net/breeze for service updates.

- Sarasota County Public Utilities staff are currently working on emergency calls only.
