As the area gears up for more heavy rain during the next few days, Sarasota County has added a third self-service sandbag station at Ed Smith Stadium for residents.

The stations will be open 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday. Sand and bags will be provided; residents must bring their own shovels to fill the bags.

There is a 10-bag limit per vehicle, the county said in a news release. The locations are:

  • Twin Lakes Park, 6700 Clark Road, Sarasota
  • Sarasota County Fleet - South, 4531 Annex Road, Venice
  • Ed Smith Stadium (east lot), 2700 12th St., Sarasota

Sarasota County staff are out in the community checking areas that are prone to flooding, the release said.
