Sarasota

Cardinal Mooney High (2-0) won 35-6 over the Community School of Naples (0-2) at home. Sophomore running back Connail Jackson had 11 carries for 130 yards and two touchdowns. Junior quarterback Devin Mignery and senior athlete Marcus Galloway had one rushing touchdown each. The Cougars also blocked a punt and returned it for a touchdown. The Cougars will next hit the road to play Chamberlain High (2-0) at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 6. 

Riverview High (1-1) won 49-7 over Hillsborough Riverview High (0-2) at home. Junior quarterback Anthony Miller ran for three touchdowns and threw one touchdown. The Rams defense forced five Sharks turnovers. The Rams will next play at Palmetto High (2-0) at 7 p.m. Sept. 6. 

Sarasota High (1-1) won 10-6 over Braden River High (0-2) on the road. Sarasota freshman quarterback Hudson West threw a five-yard touchdown pass to sophomore Chase Fritz in the first quarter. Sailors kicker Cash Schweid hit a 34-yard field goal. Braden River sophomore Freedom McDaniel returned a fumble recovery for a touchdown. The Sailors will next play at Booker High (1-1) at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 6, while the Pirates will next play Lakewood Ranch High (1-1) on the road at 7 p.m. Sept. 6.

Sarasota Christian (2-1) won 59-14 over Bell Creek Academy (0-2) on the road. Quarterback Ben Milliken threw four touchdowns and running back Daniel Jacinto had two rushing touchdowns. The Blazers will next play at Southwest Florida Christian (2-0) at 7 p.m. Sept. 6. 

Booker High (1-1) lost 28-21 to Berkeley Prep (1-1) on the road. Booker held a 21-14 lead in the third quarter before Berkeley Prep, the defending FHSAA Class 2M state champion, came back to win. 


East County

The Out-of-Door Academy (3-0) won 52-7 over Central Florida Christian Academy (0-2) on the road. Junior running back Allen Clark had 263 rushing yards, setting a single-game program record. Clark had three touchdown runs in the process.  Junior Winston Crisci blocked a punt, which senior Coby Rosenthal recovered and returned for a touchdown. Rosenthal also had an interception. The Thunder will next play rival Saint Stephen's Episcopal (0-3) on the road at 7 p.m. Sept. 6.

Lakewood Ranch High (1-1) lost 21-14 to Seminole High (1-1) on the road. Down 21-0 in the first half, the Mustangs attempted a comeback but fell short. Senior running back Cullen McRae and junior quarterback Liam Fernandez each had touchdown runs. The Mustangs will next play Braden River High (0-2) at home at 7 p.m. Sept. 6. 

Parrish Community High (2-0) won 46-0 over Bayshore High (0-2) on the road. Senior defensive back Bryson Bender had two punt return touchdowns. Senior linebacker Sean Crowley had a fumble recovery for a touchdown. The Bulls will next play Palm Harbor University High (0-2) at home 7 p.m. Sept. 6.
