The Florida Department of Transportation will exercise required testing of the Stickney Point Bridge’s hydraulic lifting and lowering systems as the bridge improvement project nears completion.

Motorists will experience continual bridge openings in the evenings of Wednesday, Dec. 11, and Thursday, Dec. 12, from 7 p.m. to approximately midnight.

During the functional testing, there will be multiple openings and closings similar to normal bridge operations. Crews will clear traffic completely between openings. Motorists should plan additional travel time or use the north bridge on Siesta Drive to access Siesta Key.

The exercise will also be noisy. Because of safety requirements, the bridge horn will sound with each opening and cannot be disabled. Updates on the project’s activities are available at SWFLRoads.com/project/445942-1.
