Photo by James PeterSarasota rang in 2024 with an all-day block party that took over the city's downtown, with the epicenter at the intersection of Lemon Avenue and Main Street, where the pineapple hung ready to drop at midnight.
The block party kicked off at 1 p.m. and had something to offer all ages, with a variety of carnival rides, prize games and amusements for kids.
For older revelers, there were a variety of cocktails, frozen drinks and food stands. The party also offered live music from Chas Collins, 22N and SRQ Beats on three stages. Mechanical bulls on Main Street thrilled some, spilled others and were a hit with strolling spectators.
The night was capped off with the annual midnight pineapple drop and fireworks on the bayfront.
