Resident input sought on Shade Avenue, Novus Street intersection

Sarasota residents have been asked by the city to provide input for its complete street project on Shade Avenue, which will stretch between Wood Street and Lime Avenue. 

The Transportation Department conducted initial community outreach about the project in 2023, hearing consistent concerns about the intersection of Shade Avenue and Novus Street.

With that in mind, the small traffic circle may be removed. Under consideration for that intersection are three options: add raised crosswalks, add traffic separators or add both raised crosswalks and traffic separators.

Residents may access the online survey at SurveyMonkey.com/r/ShadeAvePhase1 or at SarasotaFL.gov. The survey closes at 5 p.m. Jan. 22.
