Registration open for SPD Citizens Academy

A new session of the Sarasota Police Department Citizens Academy will begin Aug. 7 and continue every Wednesday from 6 to 9 p.m. through Sept. 25. 

Registration is underway through July 20, but spaces are limited and will be reserved on a first-come, first-served basis.

The immersive eight-week course offers an opportunity to gain insights into the inner workings of the SPD and to foster a stronger connection with the community. 

Interactive activities will help participants develop a comprehensive understanding of police operations, procedures and community partnerships by engaging in discussions with experienced officers, learning about investigative techniques and exploring the challenges and rewards of police work.
