To help ensure underprivileged students are prepared for their return to school, the Sarasota Police Department is holding its “Pack the Patrol Car” school supplies drive now through Aug. 2.

The SPD is partnering with the YMCA to accept donations of only new school supplies.

Donations may be delivered to SPD headquarters at 2099 Adams Lane any day from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., at the Sarasota City YMCA, 1075 South Euclid Ave., during operating hours or via Amazon.com.

New school supplies for all ages and grade levels include backpacks, pencils, pens, highlighters, boxes of tissue, small bottles of hand sanitizer, folders, notebooks, glue, markers, crayons, erasers and notebook paper. Members of the SPD will separate all donations by grade level before delivering them to students.
