Age: 55

Current occupation: Sarasota County Commissioner

How long have you been a resident of Sarasota County: 22 Years

Why are you running for election?

I have been involved with public service in Sarasota County for 22 years, holding Republican elected positions, as well as, appointments by Gov. Rick Scott.

My Finance degree from Michigan State University and extensive experience with mergers and acquisitions makes me well suited for this position.

I look forward to continuing to serve the residents of Sarasota County as their next Tax Collector.

What makes you a better candidate than your opponents?

My wife, Lori, and I have bought and sold many businesses specializing in payroll, taxes and insurance over our 31 years of marriage.

We have had hundreds of employees and specialized in taking over small organizations and growing them significantly by implementing quality control, efficient systems and procedures and remarkable customer service.

I look forward to bringing this track record of success and efficiency to our local Tax Collector’s office.

What priorities would you have if elected and why?

My Democrat opponent has been in the Tax Collector’s office for 49 years. Over the last several months, I have conducted public record requests on the current Tax Collector, and I have growing concern.

Upon election, I will be implementing strong audit controls and modernizing technology.

In addition, cyber security is an immediate priority given the lack of attention for many years.
