The deadline to register to vote or change party affiliation for the Aug. 20 primary election is  Monday, July 22, said Sarasota County Supervisor of Elections Ron Turner in a media release.

Registering to vote or changing party affiliation can be done online at RegisterToVoteFlorida.gov or in person at the Sarasota, Venice or North Port elections office.

In a news release, Turner also announced that sample ballots for the Aug. 20 primary are now available online. Voters may access their personalized sample ballot by visiting SarasotaVotes.gov and clicking on the “Sample Ballot” quick link icon at the top of the page.

“Your sample ballot is a great tool to familiarize yourself with the races on the Aug. 20 Primary Election ballot,” Turner said. “All it takes is a few clicks to download your ballot and begin researching the contests.”

Turner reminds voters that mailed sample ballots will be sent to all registered Sarasota County voters, except those who have requested vote-by-mail (absentee) ballots, at the end of July.

“Whether you download and print your sample ballot from SarasotaVotes.gov or fill in the sample ballot you received in the mail, a good practice is to bring your completed sample ballot with you as a reference guide if you plan to vote in person,” Turner said.
