The hits keep on coming for luxury real estate off the coast of Sarasota.
A listing in Lido Shores closed on June 7 for $12.5 million. That’s a new record for the 34236 zip code, according to Coldwell Banker Realty. But it's a far cry from the recent record set on Longboat Key.
The 6,590-square-foot property built in 2011 in Lido Shores comprises a three-bedroom main home and a two-bedroom guest house and was listed more than a year ago for $15 million. Despite the rooftop putting green, dock and 60-foot heated lap pool, apparently there were no takers without a price drop.
But an all-cash deal got owners David and Linda Hargreaves a price, if not their original price.
David Hargreaves was an executive for Hasbro, Inc. and spent more than three decades with the company. He is now an executive with Seaward Development Co., a luxury developer in Sarasota. The Hargreaves have lived in the area for more than 15 years and are headed to a custom-built home on Longboat Key, according to previous reporting.
Information about the buyer was not available, although a Coldwell Banker release noted the purchaser was from outside the state. Said buyer will enjoy 75 feet of frontage on New Pass, a four-car garage, floor-to-ceiling glass windows, gourmet kitchen and summer kitchen.
“The sellers were patient, waiting for the right buyer for this exquisite home,” said listing agent Roger Pettingell of Coldwell Banker Realty, in a media release. “Waterfront homes like this do not come along that often in the Lido Shores/Longboat Key market — both the design and private location are a rare combination.”
Nicholle DiPinto McKiernan, who is partner of the DiPinto Group at Coldwell Banker Realty was the co-listing agent.
And for those curious, taxes on the property were $74,031.34 in 2023, according to Sarasota County Tax Collector records.
