Stolen school bus recovered in Sarasota

The Florida Highway Patrol on the morning of May 19 initiated a traffic stop and arrested a man accused of who had stolen a Hillsborough County Public Schools’ school bus.

Troopers say the man, Daniel Saez, 32, of Land O’Lakes, is charged with stealing the bus Saturday night and driving it to Miami, according to an FHP media release.

Troopers stopped the bus as it near the intersection of Jacaranda Boulevard and Executive Drive in Sarasota.

According to the release, troopers say Saez told them he was high and drunk when he initially stole the bus, and he was enroute to Tampa to return it.

Saez was placed under arrest for grand theft auto and booked into the county jail.
