Over the weekend of June 1, the Florida Department of Transportation will begin implementation of the new diverging diamond interchange at Interstate 75 and State Road 72 (Clark Road).

The final implementation requires closing all interchange ramps to motorists, pedestrians and cyclists, in addition to Clark Road between Catamaran Drive and Queensbury Boulevard, from 7 p.m. Saturday, June 1, to 1 p.m. Sunday, June 2. The closure will allow crews to place the travel lanes into the final configuration including lane restriping, installation of signage and traffic signals.

During the closure, I-75 northbound and southbound motorists will use Exit 208 at Bee Ridge Road, then Honore Avenue to access Clark Road. Clark Road motorists who wish to continue on Clark Road will be detoured to Honore Avenue and Proctor Road to circumvent the interchange area.

Motorists should follow the posted detour signs or identify alternate routes, exercise caution through the detour area and anticipate delays.

Once the interchange reopens on Sunday, drivers will be traveling in the final DDI configuration with signage and pavement markings guiding them through the interchange.

The diverging diamond will function in much the same manner as the interchange at University Parkway and I-75 in the Lakewood Ranch/University Town Center area.
