Eliza and Hugh Culverhouse Jr. have made a $500,000 contribution to the Community Foundation of Sarasota County’s Season of Sharing campaign to support families impacted by Hurricanes Milton, Helene and Debby.
The donation pushes the early fundraising activities to a historic amount of more than $3 million to aid in recovery efforts and provide urgent relief to thousands of households in Sarasota, Manatee, Charlotte and DeSoto counties.
“We believe in the strength of our community and we’re committed to helping those who have been hit hardest by recent storms,” said Hugh Culverhouse Jr., CEO and owner of Palmer Ranch Holdings, in a news release.
The Culverhouses have a deep history of contributing to community causes during times of need. Earlier this year, they privately funded the $109,000 necessary to maintain Sarasota County’s 211 helpline, preventing its closure when Sarasota County cut its funding. Following Hurricane Ian, the Culverhouses contributed $250,000 to the Sarasota Memorial Hospital Employee Hurricane Relief Fund, which provided essential support to SMH’s workforce.
Over its history, the Community Foundation of Sarasota County's Season of Sharing campaign has distributed in excess of $42.5 million to more than 50,000 households. For more information or to make a donation, visit cfsarasota.org or call 211 to learn more about how to receive assistance.
