Deadlines for several assistance programs for people still dealing with the effects of recent storms are coming up.

FEMA assistance for Debby damage

The deadline to apply for federal assistance for sustained loss from Hurricane Debby is Tuesday, Nov. 12.

Homeowners and renters in Sarasota County with losses from Hurricane Debby may be eligible for FEMA financial assistance for displacement, basic home repairs, personal property losses and other uninsured or underinsured disaster-caused expenses.

The quickest way to apply is to go online. You can also apply using the FEMA App for mobile devices or calling toll-free 800-621-3362.

For the latest information about Florida’s recovery, visit FEMA's website. Follow FEMA on X  or on Facebook.

Residents with damage from hurricanes Helene and Milton still have a bit more time to apply. The application deadline for Hurricane Helene is Nov. 27; the last day to apply for Hurricane Milton is Dec. 11.

Operation Blue Roof extended

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers continues to install fiber-reinforced sheeting to cover damaged roofs until arrangements can be made for permanent repairs to damaged homes.

The service is free, and the sign-up period has been extended to Nov. 14.

Residents affected by Hurricane Milton can sign-up online, or by calling 888-ROOF-BLU (888-766-3258).

Disaster Recovery Center still open

The Disaster Recovery Center at the Sarasota Municipal Auditorium, 801 N. Tamiami Trail, is open Sunday-Saturday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. The site at the Sarasota Christian Church has been closed.

For more information about available resources and storm recovery efforts, visit the county's website or call 311.
