Sarasota County reports debris cleanup is continuing, with more than 1.17 million cubic yards of debris collected as of Nov. 14.

"Crews are working seven days a week, sunup to sundown, clearing more than 52,000 cubic yards daily to clean up our community," the county said in a recent email to residents.

Contractors are now working in all areas of the county. Use the Storm-Debris Pickup Status map to check the status of collection at your residence. Roads in zones that have been cleared will appear green on the debris collection map.

Debris collectors have completed a comprehensive first pass of storm debris on Manasota Key south of Blind Pass. Debris contractors continue working on the first pass for people living north of Blind Pass.

What's next

Residents who live north of Blind Pass will receive notification about when their first pass is complete and a second pass can start, the email said.

Debris collectors will start their final pass collection for Manasota Key south of Blind Pass on Monday, Nov. 18. All vegetative, construction and demolition, and household goods, must be placed curbside by 11:59 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 17.

General reminders:
  • Place storm debris within 3 feet of the right-of-way when possible.
  • Do not stack or lean materials on sidewalks or near mailboxes, fences, trees, utility poles, fire hydrants, water meters or backflow preventers.
  • After contractors complete the final pass of an area, they will not return. Removal and disposal of any remaining materials will be the property owner’s responsibility.
