The day after: Scenes from Siesta Key post-Hurricane Milton

Nearly 24 hours after the storm made landfall on the Key, the long road of cleanup has begun.

On Thursday afternoon, the bridges to Siesta Key reopened, less than 24 hours after Hurricane Milton made landfall there Oct. 9 as a Category 3 storm. 

Although the streets were cleared of downed power lines and tree limbs, the sight that met returning residents was a bleak one: Debris that had been piled up along streets for pickup after Hurricane Helene was scattered again from Hurricane Milton.

Below are some of the scenes of what the Key looks like as it begins to recover from its second hurricane in two weeks.
