SunCoast Blood Centers put out an urgent call for A negative or O negative blood on Thursday to help an 8-month pregnant woman and her baby in a local hospital.

SunCoast Blood Centers said her life hangs in the balance.

“We have a critical situation in Manatee County," said Scott Bush, the CEO of SunCoast Blood Centers. "This is a stark reminder that every donation can make the difference between life and death. At SunCoast Blood Centers, we're mobilizing all our resources to meet this urgent need. All our locations are open and ready to accept donors today.”

Bush is hoping the community will respond immediately. For more information about donation locations or to schedule an appointment, visit SuncoastBlood.org or call 1-866-97-BLOOD.

Those in Lakewood Ranch can visit the SunCoast Blood Center at 3025 Lakewood Ranch Blvd., Suite 111.
