The musical about a boy, a girl and two fathers who try to keep them apart is making its Manatee Players premiere. Runs through Sept. 29.

The Sarasota Players presents “Seussical,” a musical based on the many children’s books by Dr. Seuss, including “Horton Hears a Who!” and “The Cat in the Hat.” The family-friendly musical was a flop on Broadway but is a favorite of community theaters everywhere and with good reason. With “The Four C Notes,” Florida Studio Theatre continues its tradition of presenting Four Seasons tribute shows inspired by “Jersey Boys” and starring performers from the Broadway smash hit’s touring production. The unlikely hero gets an assist in his odyssey from a sarcastic donkey and a rebellious princess. A second performance is Sept. 25.
