One dead after Sunday shooting on Dr. MLK Jr. Way

The Sarasota Police Department is investigating a fatal shooting that occurred Sunday afternoon. At approximately 4:30 p.m., officers responded to a report of gunshots near the 1800 block of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Way. Upon arrival, officers located a deceased adult male at the scene.

As of 9 p.m. Sunday night, SPD was working to identify the victim and notify next of kin, and the investigation is ongoing.
