The old song goes, "What are you doing New Year's Eve?"

Venice Symphony Music Director Troy Quinn just found out what he's doing; he'll be leading the Boston Pops at Boston's Symphony Hall come Dec. 31.

Emmy-nominated conductor Quinn and the Boston Pops will ring out the old year with a program featuring Broadway star Bernadette Peters singing hits from the Great White Way and beyond.

The maestro will lead the Pops in the first half of the performance. The second half will be conducted by Peters' music director, Joseph Thalken, who will accompany her on piano.

During a career spanning more than six decades, Peters has established herself as a leading interpreter of Stephen Sondheim, with performances in "Sunday in the Park with George," "A Little Night Music" and "Into the Woods." She has been nominated for seven Tony awards and received two, plus an honorary award.

The Boston Pops New Year's Eve show featuring Quinn and Peters starts at 8 p.m. Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Sept. 25 at BSO.org.

Quinn is in his seventh season as music director of the Venice Symphony, which celebrated its 50th anniversary in the 2023-24 season.

In addition to his post with the Venice Symphony, Quinn serves as music director of the Owensboro Symphony in Kentucky and as the pops conductor of the Santa Rosa Symphony in California.

A native of Connecticut, Quinn is known for his energetic style and versatility. Plus, he can sing!

The popular artists that Quinn has collaborated with include The Rolling Stones, The Beach Boys, Barry Manilow, Josh Groban, Jennifer Hudson and Michael Feinstein, who performed with Quinn in Venice during its 50th anniversary season.

Quinn has had guest appearances with the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra, Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia and the Rhode Island Philharmonic, where he also serves as the pops conductor.

Quinn will next conduct the Venice Symphony on Oct. 11-12, in a Halloween-themed program called "A Symphonic Spooktacular."

A graduate of Providence College, Quinn also holds a master's degree with honors from the Manhattan School of Music and a doctorate in conducting from the University of Southern California's Thornton School of Music.
