SRQ sets all-time monthly record in March

 With airline flights arriving and departing now from two terminals at Sarasota-Bradenton International, the airport broke its all-time  monthly passenger traffic record in March, according to a release from SRQ.

Nearly 600,000 passengers (597,796 to be exact) traveled through the airport in March. That was an 7.5% increase over March 2024, according to airport activity records. Since January, traffic is up 1.1% over 2024.

SRQ opened five ground-level gates in the new Concourse A in January, a wing of the airport fully leased by Allegiant Air. It was the first expansion of the airport in 35 years.  More gates in Concourse A are on the drawing board, including a five-gate expansion at the south end of the new building and three at the north end.

“It is exciting to see the airport break an all-time passenger record for the most passengers served in a month,’’ said airport President and CEO Rick Piccolo. “The recent opening of our new five-gate Concourse A in January, along with the introduction of nine new nonstop destinations this year, is contributing to a recovery in passenger growth following a minor setback due to Hurricane Milton. Based on currently scheduled future flights, we anticipate seeing positive increases in passenger numbers for the remainder of 2025."

Eleven airlines operate from SRQ, with 68 nonstop destinations. Allegiant flies to 36 of those, either year-round or seasonally. On average, Atlanta is the busiest destination from SRQ, accounting for more than 15% of the airport’s flights.

• Elmira/Corning, N.Y. via Elmira Corning Regional Airport
• Omaha, Neb. via Eppley Airfield
• Roanoke, Va. via Roanoke-Blacksburg Regional Airport
• Great Smoky Mountains National Park/Knoxville, Tenn. via McGhee Tyson Airport.
