The scheduled quasi-judicial public hearing for the 1260 Palm Avenue development, otherwise known as Obsidian, has been continued until a special meeting at 9 a.m. Tuesday, May 13.

At the start of Monday’s City Commission meeting, City Attorney Joe Polzak told commissioners that, because of a public notice issue, he recommended the hearing be continued and representatives on both sides of the issue were in agreement.

Polzak offered no specifics regarding the issue.

Residents of Bay Plaza have appealed the administrative site plan approval, which includes of street-level adjustments, to the 18-story, 342-foot tower planned for 14 luxury condominiums. On Feb. 12, the Planning Board denied the appeal by Bay Plaza, which subsequently appealed that decision to the City Commission.

During Monday’s meeting, City Auditor and Clerk Shayla Griggs told commissioners to expect the May 13 hearing to last eight hours.
