Insurance runs deep in the Hernandez family. Carlos learned the business from his father, a Medicare specialist who started in the insurance business in 1987. As a kid, Carlos sat in the car for hours while his dad met with clients, watching as his dad built trust, asked smart questions, and took meticulous notes. “My dad was my role model,” Carlos says. “He showed me how to listen first and recommend second.”
The name Palomino Insurance is a tribute to Carlos’ grandfather, a fearless ranger, whose call sign in Cuba was Palomino. That same bold spirit lives on in the way Carlos approaches Medicare, with courage, knowledge, and a determination to make things easier for his clients.
Carlos’ father passed away last year in May, but his wisdom remains the foundation of the company. “He always said, ‘You catch more flies with honey than vinegar,’” Carlos recalls. “That kindness-first approach is what built Palomino Insurance, and it’s what keeps us going.”

“Technology is a big hurdle for many of my clients,” Carlos says. “That’s why I handle the technical side, so they don’t have to. My job isn’t just to sell insurance. It’s to make people feel safe and supported.”
