$30M rehab hospital breaks ground in Lakewood Ranch

Construction has officially begun on a $30 million rehabilitation hospital in Lakewood Ranch. 

Exalt Health will operate the facility, which will have 40 beds. It will offer programs for neurological, orthopedic and cardiac recovery and feature modern amenities as well as cutting-edge technology, officials say in a statement. Texas-headquartered Exalt Health specializes in rehab hospitals for those recovering from serious injuries or illnesses, with locations in Florida, Texas and Arizona.

“This new hospital will enable us to extend our high-quality, patient-centered care to more individuals in need of rehabilitation services, helping them recover and regain their independence,” Exalt Health Chief Development Officer and COO Jeff Crawford said in a statement. 

The hospital will provide intensive physical, occupational and speech therapy services. “Exalt Health is excited to bring our expertise in rehabilitation care to the Lakewood Ranch area,” Crawford said.

Naples-based builder MHM Development is handling construction of the rehabilitation hospital at 5800 Lake Osprey Drive. The company specializes in build-to-suit development and health care facilities.

“We are honored to partner with Exalt Health on this important project,” MHM Development President and CEO Mike Metcalf said in a statement. “Our team is committed to delivering a top-tier facility that meets the highest standards of the health care industry.”

The rehabilitation hospital is expected to open in the first quarter of 2026.
