Middle School: Building Confidence and Leadership
As Sarasota County’s only Leader in Me school, SMA’s middle school focuses on developing both self-leadership and the ability to lead others. Students build confidence, strengthen communication skills, and learn the importance of teamwork and respect. Guided by Aristotle’s wisdom—“We are what we repeatedly do; excellence then, is not an act, but a habit”—and the 7 Habits framework, SMA’s middle school proudly lives by its motto, “Great Happens Here.”
High School: Preparing for Life Through JROTC
At SMA, all high school students participate in JROTC, a program that emphasizes discipline, leadership, and personal growth. Through JROTC, students gain leadership experience, engage in community service, and build strong teamwork skills, all while preparing for college, careers, or military service. More than just a curriculum, JROTC fosters close-knit bonds among cadets as they work together to face challenges, solve problems, and support each other. As one second-in-command cadet shares, “I won’t give you the answers. I’ll help you make your own decisions. My goal is to make you the best version of yourself.”

As soon as you step onto this campus, you’re family at SMA.” This is the heart of SMA—a welcoming, disciplined environment where teachers and mentors genuinely care about students' academic, social, and emotional growth. Morning formations, engaging activities, and shared values create a strong sense of belonging and purpose. Community service is integral to SMA, teaching cadets the importance of giving back and leading with integrity.
