Nokomis Beach Park
Details: This camp combines art and cooking programs all in one. The cooking curriculum each day will be about kitchen cleanliness, food safety and proper tool usage. Campers will use the “three bite rule” as they explore new food flavors both sweet, savory and sometimes exotic. The second half of the camp will be filled with art and exploring different types and forms of art such as paper, woodworking, sewing, tile, paint and creative uses for recycled materials and more.

Details: The six-week program includes ballet, pointe, repertoire, variations, pas de deux, dance conditioning, stretching, character and contemporary. The three levels include beginners starting on level pointe, intermediates with at least two years on pointe and advanced students with at least three years on pointe. All levels will have the opportunity to perform at the Sarasota Opera House on July 19.

Details: Each day, students will have a ballet class, craft time to make the sets and costumes for our performance, lunchtime and rehearsal. On Friday, campers will present their final demonstration of everything they learned during the week. Family and friends are encouraged to attend.

Details: Under the direction of Sarasota Opera’s professional artistic and production staff, campers experience and study the many facets of opera-from performing on a stage to working behind the scenes from music and acting to opera appreciation and production. A typical day includes sessions in singing, acting, physical comedy, sets, props, wigs, make-up and costumes led by industry artists, directors, musicians and technicians.

Details: Students will explore their instruments through musical games and activities. The nurturing environment makes this the perfect camp for budding musicians. Students will work on themed songs Monday through Friday and the camp will culminate in a concert at the end of the week for family and friends.

Details: Beginners with little to no experience will learn about different rock instruments and begin their introduction to music theory and appreciation. Details: The 90s were one of music’s most important decades as grunge and alternative music took over the airwaves and popular culture. Come celebrate bands like Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Green Day, Weezer and many more. Students will spend Monday through Friday learning and practicing songs from the 90s, all culminating in a live performance. Great for students with some previous instruction.
