LECOM Bradenton Medical Science Academy

Details: This experience provides an opportunity for high school students to interact closely with faculty and medical students from the College of Medicine. In the first week, students will attend classes in large and small groups as well as participate in hands-on laboratory activities, including an anatomy lab featuring a cat dissection, an interactive suture skills session with volunteers from the U.S. Army and more. In the second week, students will receive basic first aid training, CPR training, “Stop the Bleed” training, tour Blake Hospital’s trauma bays, operating rooms, step-down units, emergency medical helicopter and interact with the medical flight crew, while also including dental and pharmacy days.

Journey to Becoming a Marine Biologist

Uihlein and Siesta Key campuses

Details: Students will complete experiments and projects to gain an understanding of the ocean and its many inhabitants. Students will conduct an in-depth analysis of a sea turtle, learn details about different types of sea turtles and adopt their very own plush sea turtle. As a class, students will work together to rescue, rehabilitate and release a leatherback sea turtle. The class culminates with the sea turtle release as the students graduate from Little Medical School as Little Marine Biologists.

Participants will explore, challenge, innovate, develop, design, build and code using Lego Programming and Robotics with Mindstorms.

Details: This camp includes a hands-on lesson developed with three interactive exercises by IT specialists, computer scientists and engineers. Campers will be immersed in the world of espionage as they design and code their way through a series of hacker challenges using the StealthOps Gearbox which uses cutting-edge electronics, programming tools and computer technology. The week ends with the Ultimate Cipher Challenge to earn the prestigious title of secret agent.

In the makerspace, campers will design a prototype of their own invention and pitch that creation in the thrilling STEM Shark Tank, judged by STEMania's owners — leaders with executive management experience in consulting, incubators, angel investing and the tech world, holding expertise in nuclear and systems engineering, chemistry, neuroscience and MBAs from Cornell and UPenn Wharton.

Robots X2

Details: Working in teams of two, campers will use both the Dash and Cue robots. Both types of robots can sense, act and think. Campers will use block-based coding on different apps to control their robot and will then use their new skills to complete various challenges including soccer and the catapult challenge. Robots are for camp use only; campers will not be allowed to take them home.
