Sarasota's local philanthropy figured were recognized for their work improving the community during a celebration luncheon on Nov. 9.
More than 200 nonprofit representatives and philanthropist honorees attended the National Philanthropy Day luncheon hosted by the Florida Southwest Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals at Michael's On East. Attendees picked up name tags in the outdoor space before heading into the ballroom to network and reconnect with friends.
Chapter president Janet Ginn welcomed the audience once everyone had settled down for lunch. She expressed her joy at seeing everyone assembled after nearly two years.
"(We're) celebrating a promise of an amazing tomorrow for the generations to come," Ginn said.
The audience then heard from co-chairs Declan Sheehy with New College Foundation and Debra Flynt-Garrett with Westcoast Black Theatre Troupe, and later by speaker Linda Larson.
There was a surprise as well — WBBT founder Nate Jacobs regaled the crowd with a rendition of "Higher and Higher" and "You Are So Beautiful."
