The Braden River and Lakewood Ranch High baseball teams spent Spring Break competing against some of the top teams in the state during the annual Sarasota Baseball Classic March 12-15.
The Pirates went 2-2 in the Premier Division while The Mustangs went 2-2 in the Elite Division.
Braden River opened up its tournament with a 4-1 victory over Benjamin March 12. The Pirates then fell to North Port (7-6) and Miami Palmetto (8-7) before bouncing back to defeat Berkley Prep (4-3).
Across town, Lakewood opened u its tournament with an 8-3 victory over Montverde Academy March 12. The Mustangs then fell to tournament champion Barron Collier (14-2) and Sarasota (6-2) before shutting out Miami Sunset 7-0 March 15. Lakewood's Zack Larson was named the Elite Division's best hitter.
